John Stewart and Margaret McLauchlan of Balnabodach moved their family to Tressait at some time between 1786 and 1791. Their youngest daughter, Elspeth, was born at Balnabodach, 17th October 1786, whilst an older daughter, Cecil, was living at Tressait when she married Alexander Stewart of Bridgend of Struan, 12th December 1791.

The death certificate of Christian Stewart (dwelling 4) shows that she is the daughter of John Stewart and Margaret McLauchlan of Balnabodach, born 1st May 1775. This evidence suggests that William Stewart (widow living at dwelling 3) and Neil Stewart (dwelling 2) are her brothers.
